Boxing Program

HEALTH, STRENGTH, DISCIPLINE, & CONFIDENCE

City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department Boxing Program offers a Boxing Program at the Downtown Recreation Center (DRC).  The DRC is equipped with a full boxing gym, complete with full size ring, punching bags, speed bags, free weights, mirrors for shadow boxing and high ceilings for jumping rope.

The program has created boxers with a wide range of experience, but it is also a destination for those that are just beginning to explore the sport.

Once in the program participants will learn how train properly and they can participate in tournaments.  

The Boxing Program is a great for self-discipline, sportsmanship, physical fitness and more.


Boxer and certified Trainer

Amateur/Professional Boxing Program is open to all.  Children need to provide written permission from their parents/guardians to register.

Cost to Register:

USA Boxing Registration is required to participate. The fee is $75 a year.

The Program Schedule:  

Monday - Friday:  5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Walk ins at the Rec Center are also welcome.  Certified Trainer Robert Campos is in the gym after 5PM.  You can visit with trainer then.  We are located at 1338  E. 8th Street

What should I wear?

Come dressed in comfortable fitness attire that's easy to move in and can handle sweat. Wear sneakers that allow for fast and easy movements — think about side-to-side and pivots rather than simple front-to-back movement. Good shoes can include cross trainers, fitness sneakers etc.

What should I bring?

Bring your own water bottle, towel, and endurance. Invite your friends and neighbors.
