Overview
The Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation is a non-profit established in accordance with the Texas Development Corporation Act of 1979, codified by Section 13 of Article 5190.6 of the Texas Revised Civil Statutes. It was approved by the voters a Proposition Number 1 on an election held November 6, 2001. Ordinance #2001-1384, approved on November 20, 2001, approved the returns on the election held on November 6, 2001. The Articles of Incorporation were adopted by the City Commission April 23, 2002. The board's purpose is to fund the quality of life projects in the City of Brownsville through ¼ cent sales tax funds.
