Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC)

Overview

The Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBIC) is a non-profit organization created to oversee the disbursement of a ¼ cent sales tax collected in the City of Brownsville. The GBIC board, appointed by the Brownsville City Commission, approves funding for job creation incentives and various grant programs related to infrastructure and education. GBIC provides business counseling for companies seeking to locate or expand in the greater Brownsville area. The GBIC staff offers help with site selection, obtaining permits, identifying workforce needs, and connecting with community partners to provide job training to be successful in Brownsville.
