Volunteer at BARCC

The Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center relies on volunteers to assist with the high volume of incoming animals that come into the shelter daily.  

If you love, enjoy, and have a little extra time to spend with animals come and volunteer at BARCC!

Help make a difference in a shelter animal's life!

If you feel that you are able to meet our requirements to volunteer, please fill out one of the volunteer applications and drop it off at BARCC. Once the application is approved you will receive a call from our shelter staff and continue the orientation process


Minimum Requirements:

All volunteers must be a minimum of 10 years of age. 

If a prospective volunteer is between 10 and 17 years of age, they must have a parent/guardian consent and a student ID.

If a prospective volunteer is at least 18 years of age, they must provide a valid Texas ID.


Responsibilities

BARCC volunteer duties include cleaning and feeding animals, grooming and exercising animals, and attending outreach events. Volunteers, working alongside our team are given thorough instructions on how to properly clean kennels, feed, and care for the animals.
