Biography
Fire Chief Jarrett Sheldon was born in Brownsville, Texas and raised in Los Fresnos, Texas. He has 25 years of fire experience with over 17 of those being with the Brownsville Fire Department. Chief Sheldon has climbed the ranks in the fire service and now serves in the capacity of Fire Chief. He oversees all functions of the department such as Administration, Fire Operations, EMS Operations, Fire Prevention and all Specialized Tactical Teams.
Chief Sheldon holds a degree in Fire Service Administration from Weatherford College in addition to various Texas Commission on Fire Protection Certifications including: Master Firefighter, Head of Department-Suppression, Fire Service Instructor, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Inspector, and TCFP State Skills Examiner. He is an active member of The State Firefighter’s and State Fire Marshal’s Association , International Association of Fire Chiefs, Rio Grande Valley Firefighter’s and Fire Marshal’s Association, Vice President of the Cameron County Fire Chiefs Association, Texas Task Force 1- Medical Specialist, and a past board member of the Rio Grande Valley Emergency Training Alliance.
