STEP 6: Construction / Inspections

Begin construction, but please note:
  • Inspections are required during the different phases of construction; see Commercial Inspection Process. Visit Inspections to request an inspection.
  • All inspections scheduled after 3:30 p.m. will not be processed until the next business day.
  • Re-Inspection fees will be charged on ALL failed inspections and are due prior to scheduling a re-inspection.
  • All inspections require permit to be posted with the address visible at all times. Portable restroom must be on site.
  • Premises must be kept clean at all times free of trash and debris.
  • APPROVED PLANS SHALL BE PRESENT AT THE JOB SITE DURING ALL INSPECTIONS EXCEPT TEMPORARY CONTSTRUCTION POWER POLE (T‐POLE) OR WORKING CLEARANCE
  • To receive a Certificate of Occupancy, the final step in this New Commercial Construction process, all electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building inspections must pass.
  • Required inspections from Fire, Engineering, City Forester, and GMS Trash Refuse must also be conducted and approved.
  • Additional Inspections, if applicable, from Brownsville PUB Pretreatment, Health Department, Historic Preservation Officer and Main Street Manager must also pass.
