Athletics Code Of Conduct

City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation believes that sports play a vital role in a child's development. Unfortunately, some parents and the spectators associated with their families don't realize that their actions, whether verbal or non-verbal, positive or negative, can have a lasting emotional effect on young players. Furthermore, parent/spectator behavior can adversely affect the behavior of their children and the overall attitude of their team and families.

In order to ensure good sportsmanship, fair play and mutual respect among players, coaches, officials and spectators, COB PARD has established an Athletics Code  of Conduct for players, coaches and parents. The standards of behavior identified in this code are not intended to be all-inclusive. All participants should be aware that any behavior not specifically described but failing to meet the spirit and intent of this code may subject those involved to disciplinary action at the discretion of Parks & Recreation.

Being successful in youth athletics is not always about winning and losing, it's about encouraging youths to be active. It is about helping them develop individual and team skills. Everyone has a role to play. Coaches coach, referees and umpires officiate, players play and parents cheer and support.
