HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME)

The City of Brownsville is a participating jurisdiction (PJ) in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME). The HOME Program provides formula grants to states and localities, such as the City of Brownsville, to fund a variety of activities including down payment, rehabilitation assistance, and new construction of affordable housing. The HOME program is the largest Federal Block grant designed to create affordable housing.

  • Construction of  energy efficient single family units in partnership with Brownsville Affordable Homeownership Corporation, a local community housing development organization (CHDO)
  • Down payment assistance to low income residents
  • Rehabilitation and reconstruction of owner-occupied dwellings
