Downtown Recreation Center (DRC)


The Downtown Recreation Center serves as the community recreation center for the Buena Vida Neighborhood in Central Brownsville. Since 1974, the facility was home to the Brownsville Boys and Girls Club, but now hosts the Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) administrative offices, the VAC Community Youth Programs Center, new Teen Center, a new health/fitness room, and offers recreational programs. The renovation project featured the installation of a new playground and outdoor basketball/soccer court, major improvements to the boxing training area, the gymnasium (air conditioning, new court surfacing, basketball goals), and facility roof. The center is located in Central Brownsville and serves one of the lowest-income areas of the City.

Gonzalez Park Community Center (GPCC)


The Gonzalez Park Recreation Center serves as the community recreation center for the Southmost Neighborhood in South Brownsville with after school and summer programming for school age children and youth. This place is open for community gathering especially during the morning and early day for classes such as seniors, special programming, etc. please request with Gonzalez Park Supervisor.

Oliveira Park Community Center (OPCC)


Scheduled to re-open in April 2016 after renovations, the OPCC will host Parks and Recreation Department Athletic Division for youth and adult athletics. The facility will serve as a dedicated athletic registration and information center, with staff on site for open gym, registrations and payments, and to answer any questions you may have.
