About the After School Recreation Program

The City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department offers a FREE After School Recreation Program (ASRP).

This program provides children aged 5-17, the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities in the safety of a Parks and Recreation Department setting.

ASRP follows the BISD School year Calendar.  Program schedule operates Monday - Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm, a critical time to engage school-aged children in structured activities.

Children are under staff supervision, and are encouraged to participate in recreational/ athletic activities and or projects.

Our program complements what children are learning in school and strengthens their sense of belonging in the communities in which they live.

The program's main goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for the children of the community.

Please remember: The After School Recreation Program is not school, it is not licensed, it is not liable for lost or damaged property.  The program has an open-door policy (child may come and go as he/she signs in and out). Parents/Guardians may establish arrangements with us as to how/who can drop off and pick up their child.

This is recreation, and as such, each child is ultimately responsible for his/her own belongings, signing in and out of facility, and making use of their time at program.

For more information about this program, please contact Community & Recreation Inclusion Coordinator Laura Holbrook at (956) 551-2314.
