This one-of-a-kind facility was designed to host after school programs, concerts, workshops, and other community events in the Southmost neighborhood of Brownsville. The site is also home to the Southmost Heritage Center; an interactive community curated Historical Museum. The Urban Center received the 2008 Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS) Arts & Humanities Award and was the recipient of the National Parks and Recreation Association (NRPA), Southwest Region Arts and Humanities Award.
