Manager & Food Handlers Certification

City of Brownsville Public Health Department requires that all certified Food Managers obtain a photo ID, which is valid for 3 years. Said card has a fee of $50.00 per person.

Due to COVID-19, the process to obtain a Food Manager ID has changed. Please contact our office before you arrive to assure that we have received all the necessary paperwork prior to submitting your payment.

To obtain a Food Manager ID please stop by our drive-thru window (located on the corner of E. 11th & E. Levee Street) during the following hours: Monday - Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Manager & Food Handlers Certification Information:

The City of Brownsville Health Department has updated the Food Handlers and Food Managers Certification Training agencies. Ordinance No. 2008-1367-A §229.163. The Health Department is accepting Food Handlers Certification and Managers Certifications from the following agencies.


This COVID-19 Disinfection Specialist Training Program is available to any small businesses within both Cameron and Willacy Counties. The program focuses on fostering a safe working environment for employees reporting back to work and a safe environment for customers.
