BROWNSVILLE, Texas (January 8, 2019) – The Brownsville Police and Fire Departments today announced at a joint press conference the successful rescue mission of a missing man.
The man identified as 88-year-old Luis Reyna Zuniga was reported missing on Monday, January 7, 2019, at 8:38 p.m. It was reported that he was last seen at 5:30 p.m.
Detectives from the Brownsville Police Department led the investigation and reached out to the Brownsville Fire Department for assistance in the search.
The search for Luis Reyna Zuniga ended at 11:11 p.m. when he was located by the Brownsville Fire Department thanks to drone surveillance in a grassy area near W. 5th and Ramireno Streets.
Luis Reyna Zuniga was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
“This rescue was a team effort with a great response from the Brownsville Fire and Police Departments,” said Brownsville Fire Chief Jarrett V. Sheldon. “The drone is a significant resource for rescues, wildfires, training and any situation that limits our visibility on the ground. We combine our life-saving skills with the latest technology for a safer community.”
