BROWNSVILLE, Texas (February 22, 2019) – The Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS) announced on January 15, 2019, the nomination of Brownsville Parks & Recreation Director Damaris McGlone to the Therapeutic Recreation Branch Board.
The Therapeutic Recreation Branch Board is committed to increasing the presence of Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists and Recreational Professionals within TRAPS. Recreational Therapy is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions based upon the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions.
As a member of the TRAPS Therapeutic Recreation Branch Board, McGlone will represent the Rio Grande Valley and advocate for therapeutic recreation services throughout the State of Texas.
“I am honored to serve the Texas Recreation and Park Society Therapeutic Recreation Branch Board and represent the Rio Grande Valley,” said Brownsville Park & Recreation Director Damaris McGlone, CTRS. “We work year-round to provide inclusive recreational opportunities for all members of our community.”
Damaris McGlone is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and was named City of Brownsville Parks Director in 2015.
