BROWNSVILLE, Texas (March 29, 2019) – Brownsville City Manager Noel Bernal announced Friday, March 29, 2019, Felix Sauceda to be named Brownsville Police Chief effective Monday,April 1, 2019.
Felix Sauceda first joined the Brownsville Police Department in 1991 as a patrol officer. He has since served as a traffic investigator, motorcycle officer, and, in 2008, was promoted to patrol sergeant. He was later promoted to patrol lieutenant until his becoming a Police Commander on October 19, 2018.
“I am pleased to name Felix Sauceda as our new police chief,” said Brownsville City Manager Noel Bernal. “This decision was based on his leadership and vision, as Brownsville continues to grow, our commitment to building strong relationships with our citizens by instilling a servant leadership culture, and transforming the department for success in the 21st century. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the interview panels for their participation in this process.”
Sauceda holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Brownsville, and a Master’s Degree in Police Administration from the University of Texas Pan-American. He is a graduate of the Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas (LEMIT) Leadership Command College, a certified Master Peace Officer and holds certifications including the National Incident Management Systems and Instructor-Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer on Standards and Education.
Sauceda succeeds former Brownsville Police Chief Orlando Rodriguez who retired August 2018.
