The City of Brownsville’s Office of Emergency Management invites the community to attend the Hurricane Awareness Fair 2019, on Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Brownsville Public Library System – Main Branch, 2600 Central Blvd. in Brownsville.
The 2019 Hurricane Awareness Fair is a free family event that aims to prepare residents for hurricane season which begins June 1 through November 30. The fair will feature informational presentations regarding hurricane and emergency preparedness; equipment displays; over 100 door prizes, including five power generators to be raffled at 8 p.m., and food and beverages for the first 1,500 attendees. Individuals must be present to win door prizes.
Hurricane Awareness Fair 2019 presenters include City of Brownsville Public Works, National Weather Service, Brownsville PUB, AARP, and 2-1-1.
“Hurricane season is right around the corner and residents can prepare throughout the year,” said Office of Emergency Management Director Odee Ann Leal. “The Hurricane Awareness Fair provides an opportunity for residents to become informed with all the resources in one place.”
