
BROWNSVILLE, Texas (June 21, 2019) – On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, the City of Brownsville Parks & Recreation Department accepted the 2019 Governor’s Community Achievement Award from Keep Texas Beautiful in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in the amount of $310,000, in Rockwall, Texas.
Brownsville is among 10 communities recognized by Keep Texas Beautiful that will share $2 million in landscaping awards.
The funds will be used for a beautification project within the City of Brownsville.
“We are honored to receive this recognition from Keep Texas Beautiful thanks to our Parks & Recreation Department and Keep Brownsville Beautiful volunteers,” said Brownsville Mayor Tony Martinez. “This award is a testament to the dedication and pride our residents have in our community to create and maintain beautiful public spaces for all to enjoy.”
