A lot has changed in the last month.

In March, preventative measures aimed at “flattening the curve,” or slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus, halted daily life around the world.

It is now almost half way through April, and at least one-third of the global population is under some sort of restriction.   Over 90 percent of Americans are under stay-at-home orders (shelter-in-place) and at least 46 states and Washington, D.C., have closed non-essential businesses.

Beginning Monday, April 13, Cameron county residents will be required to wear face coverings.  This will be a requirement for all individuals over the age of 5 in a public setting.

Needless to say, people are spending most of their days inside — they’re spending that time alone or with family.  We are all making adjustments to this new normal.  We are all trying to stay healthy and safe during these uncertain times.

Our staff is also trying to stay healthy, productive and in touch (while practicing social distancing) with the community that we care and work for.

We are doing our best to provide you with activities and resources in this time of isolation.

We have set up a page called Stay Home BTX and we invite everyone to continue to engage and share with us via social media @btxparks
