Brownsville Metro, Mitte Cultural District Announce Free Shuttle Service

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (December 8, 2016) – Brownsville Metro, in partnership with the Mitte Cultural District, announces the Mitte Cultural District Pilot Program, set to provide free shuttle service to Mitte Cultural District visitors from 6 to 10 p.m. on December 17-18, 2016.

The Mitte Cultural District Pilot Program will feature free Brownsville Metro bus rides along 6th Street and 7th Street, from Madison Street to Ringgold Street in Downtown Brownsville, aiming to increase accessibility to the Mitte Cultural District.

“Brownsville Metro is excited to partner with the Mitte Cultural District,” said Brownsville Metro Director Norma Zamora. “This partnership demonstrates our continued dedication to work with community partners to expand transportation services.”

“The Mitte Cultural District is pleased to partner with the City of Brownsville to offer a convenient shuttle option for our patrons during the busy holiday season,” said Mitte Cultural District President Rene Van Haaften. “We invite the community to take part in the exciting cultural, educational and recreational opportunities offered in the Mitte Cultural District this holiday season.”

Free shuttle service pickup will be held at the following locations: 

  • E. 7th Street & E. Madison Street
  • E. 7th Street & E. Harrison Street
  • E. 6th Street & E. Ringgold Street
