NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Regarding the Issuance of
City of Brownsville, Texas
General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series 2021 (AMT)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Brownsville, Texas (the "City") will hold a public hearing during a Regular Meeting of the City Commission commencing at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in the City Commission’s Chambers located on the Second Floor of the City Hall, 1001 E. Elizabeth Street, Brownsville, Texas, to provide an opportunity for all interested persons to be heard with respect to the proposed issuance and sale by the City of its General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series 2021 (AMT) (the "Bonds"), in an aggregate amount not to exceed $17,200,000.
The proceeds of the Bonds will be used by the City to pay costs of issuance and to refund all outstanding Tax Notes, Series 2018, which were originally issued to finance, on an interim basis, a portion of the costs to (i) acquire, construct and equip capital improvements to the Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport (the "Airport"), including but not limited to constructing and equipping a new terminal, new terminal apron, new terminal access roadway and parking, and new landside access roadways, and demolishing the existing terminal, and (ii) pay costs of issuance.
The Bonds will be general obligations of the City, secured by and payable from a continuing ad valorem tax levied annually on all taxable property within the City, within the limits prescribed by law.
All interested persons are invited to attend the hearing to express their views with respect to the issuance of the Bonds. In lieu of attendance at the hearing, written comments may be submitted to the City addressed to the City Secretary of the City using the following contact information:
