[ARCHIVED] Declaration of Disaster

Pursuant to 418.108(a) of the Texas Government Code, the City of Brownsville announced a “Declaration of Disaster” on April 27, 2023. The declaration is to address the influx of migrants crossing the Texas-Mexico border, south of Brownsville. The Mayor Pro Tem of Brownsville made the declaration in an effort to proactively address the influx of crossings and to support and alleviate the process and transfer of migrants in a humanitarian way; while supporting federal agencies.

Pursuant to 418.018(d) of the Government Code, this declaration of a local state of disaster activates the city emergency management plan.
