The City of Brownsville’s Office of Organizational Development And Human Resources received three nominations at the Texas Municipal Human Resources Association Convention held May 17-19, 2023 in Galveston.
The City was nominated as a 2023 HR Strategic Department of the Year, and 2023 Innovation in Municipal Human Resources Management Nominees, and Perla Cepeda was nominated as the 2023 Human Resources Management Professional of the Year.
Cepeda is the director of Brownsville’s Organizational Development and Human Resources for the City of Brownsville.
“To have our city receive three nominations is a great honor,” City Manager Helen Ramirez, AICP, said. “Our Office of Organizational Development and Human Resources works extremely hard to ensure that it hires the best employees to match the needs of the City of Brownsville.”
“I am honored and humbled by this nomination,” Cepeda said. “We in the HR Department make sure the City recruits the right employees to do the jobs the City provides.”
The Human Resources Management Professional of the Year recognizes the human resources professional who has made significant contributions to the field of municipal human resources management in the past 18 months.
Brownsville’s HR Department aims to recruit, select, and maintain the best individuals for the City of Brownsville and to have a well-informed City management team on Labor Laws, rules, and regulations.
The HR Strategic Department of the Year recognizes the outstanding contributions that an HR team has made in the past 18 months to their City and the employees they serve. The award acknowledges the efforts made to enhance and further the mission, vision and values of the organization and its culture while aligning strategic HR practices and programs.
The Innovation in Municipal Human Resources Management recognizes the local government department that has developed innovative programs and services to solve municipal human resources management problems and created opportunities for its community to reach its full potential. This award is aimed at programs that have been created or modified in the past 18 months.
The Texas Municipal Human Resources Association’s mission is to grow and enhance the professional development of its dedicated and compassionate members through effective knowledge sharing and relationship building.
