Tino Villarreal Jr. has been elected by registered voters in Brownsville to fill the vacant City Commission At Large "A" position on the Brownsville City Commission.
In the runoff election held on June 17, 2023, Villarreal emerged victorious, receiving 3,227 votes compared to Susan Ruvalcaba's 2,596 votes.
Villarreal will be taking over the position that was previously held by Commissioner John Cowen Jr., who decided to run for the open mayoral position in May and was successful in winning that election.
It's worth noting that Tino Villarreal Jr. currently serves as the athletic director and head coach at St. Joseph Academy. With his background and experience, he will now be transitioning into his new role as a City Commissioner in Brownsville.
The City of Brownsville wishes Villarreal the best in his new role as Commissioner At Large “A” position.
