It was all about spreading the word about health and wellness and on July 13, 2023, the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce sponsored its third annual Health and Wellness Fair at the Brownsville Events Center located at 1 Event Drive.
The fair attracted a large crowd of individuals who were interested in gathering information about ways to achieve or maintain good health.
The event was co-sponsored by DHR Brownsville, Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville, and Valley Regional Medical Center, indicating the support and participation of prominent healthcare organizations in the region.
Over 36 different companies attended the Health and Wellness Fair, providing attendees with the latest information related to healthcare. Their presence at the fair aimed to inform and educate people about the available healthcare resources in Brownsville, Texas, said Esmi Villarreal, president and CEO of the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce.
One of the key highlights of the fair was the provision of free vaccinations, screenings, and health checks to attendees. This aspect of the event shows a commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and offering access to important medical services.
In addition to healthcare providers and companies, representatives from the Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center were present at the fair. They emphasized the importance of pet adoptions and sought volunteers for the animal shelter. Dr. Antonio Caldwell, the deputy director of animal services for the Public Health and Wellness Department for the City of Brownsville, encouraged individuals to consider adopting a pet or contributing to the community by volunteering at the shelter.
Overall, the Health and Wellness Fair organized by the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce was an opportunity for people to learn about healthcare resources, receive necessary screenings and vaccinations, and contribute to the community through pet adoptions and volunteering.
