"Mitte on the Move" at the Southmost Branch of the Brownsville Public Library held Tuesday, September 12, 2023, was a significant gathering that brought together various organizations to engage with the community.
The event was hosted by District 1 City Commissioner Bryan L. Martinez who said, "We thrive as a community working together and this is exactly what this event represents. My office will host free community days for the residents in the future and continue to work with community partners to collaborate on events like these.”
Dozens of informational booths were set up at the library with some representing the Mitte Cultural District and others representing Texas Southmost College, the Brownsville Police Department, Come Dream, Come Build, Republic Service, the International Southmost Choice Neighborhood Plan, and the Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center.
Daniella Lopez Valdez, executive director of the Mitte Cultural District, said that the Mitte Cultural District plans to attend other events in and around the Brownsville area in person to promote what the district has to offer.
It was a great opportunity for the community to get to know the different organizations that make up the Mitte Cultural District and a few other organizations from the community.
