[ARCHIVED] WEAK FRONTAL BOUNDARY COULD BRING RAIN TO BROWNSVILLE THIS WEEKEND

News Story image

There’s a good chance of rain in Deep South Texas this weekend, which could provide some relief from the severe drought conditions in Brownsville and the Cameron County area.

According to the National Weather Service in Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley, there's a 60 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms on Saturday and a 60 to 70 percent chance of showers on Sunday. This increased rainfall is likely due to a weak frontal boundary moving into the region.

The lower temperatures expected during the weekend can be attributed to the cloud cover and increased rain chances.

Hopefully, this rain will help alleviate the severe drought conditions, as indicated by the U.S. Drought Monitor's latest statistics released on September 14, 2023.
