The City of Brownsville's Engineering and Public Works Department was able to complete asphalt milling and overlay for 28 streets using funding from the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 funding cycle and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) monies.
The CDBG program is a federal grant program that provides funding to communities for various community development activities, including infrastructure improvements like street projects.
The following streets that were milled and repaved were Alexandra Court, Andrea Court, Viking Lane, Midway Drive, Agua Dulce Drive, Agua Clara Court, Santa Fe Court, Burnett Road, Timber Drive, White Oak Lane, Pine Lane, Bowie Road, Staples Circle, Walnut Cove, Poplar Cove, Central Circle, Billings Road, Joey Court, New Mexico Way, Sasha Circle, Laguna Madre Drive, Atascosa Drive, Laguna Azul Drive, Laguna Verde Drive, Laguna del Rey Drive, Laguna de Palmas Drive, Agua Bravo Drive and Cablas Circle.
These improvements will enhance the overall quality of life for residents in these areas by providing smoother and safer road surfaces. It's an excellent example of how CDBG funds can be used to benefit the community by addressing essential infrastructure needs.
