The Latin Jazz Festival is sponsored by the Brownsville Society for the Performing Arts.

Camila Meza will perform on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the TSC Performing Arts Center located at 90 Taylor Ave.

Meza was born in Santiago, Chile in 1985. She got her start playing music around age 15 in her hometown in Chile.  According to the BSPA, she released her first album Skylark in 2007, and moved to New York in 2009 to attend the New School for Jazz. She soon established herself on the New York scene, as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Camila’s style fuses many different influences.

Meza has a strong command of South American musical styles, including Samba and Bossa.

The Latin Jazz Festival continues at 5 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Southern Pacific Linear Park located at 1501 E. 7th Street.

The first band will perform at 5 p.m. and the music concludes later with the sounds of the Superfónicos who play Colombian Funk, according to the BSPA. Better yet, it is Caríbe Soul…fed by the Indigenous and African roots of the band’s Colombian heritage, telegraphing a politics of peace and unity from the stage to your ears.
