It’s time to pull out that Santa hat, those reindeer antlers, and those holiday sweaters and get ready to say “ho, ho, ho” as the City of Brownsville will host several Community Christmas events to get you in the holiday spirit.
The fun begins on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Dean Porter Park with the opening of the annual Holiday Village at Dean Porter Park. Cottages at Holiday Village are being decorated for the event, which is expected to draw thousands of visitors from across the Rio Grande Valley.
This event is free and open to the public.
The 2nd Annual La Plaza Terminal Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The La Plaza Terminal is located at 755 International Boulevard. It promises to be a festive event to kick off the holiday season.
Washington Park will become a Winter Wonderland on Thursday, November 30, 2023, with the City of Brownsville’s Christmas Tree Lighting at Washington Park. The entire park will be decorated with white Christmas lights. The event will be held from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Enjoy some delightful Christmas music and the sight of brightly decorated floats at the annual Christmas Parade hosted by the Charro Days Fiesta Association. Be sure to arrive early to secure a prime viewing spot along Elizabeth Street. The parade will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 7:00 PM to 9: 00 PM.
In case you missed two of the previous Christmas tree lightings, the City of Brownsville will host a third one. The Downtown Market Square & Christmas Tree Lighting is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
