CHARGERS TAKE OVER PALM BOULEVARD AHEAD OF FRIDAY NIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYOFF GAME

As members of the Corpus Christi Miller Buccaneers football team make their way toward Sams Stadium traveling down Palm Boulevard Friday afternoon, they will see the faces of the Veterans Memorial ECHS football team they will be facing on the football field Friday night.

Palm trees up and down Palm Boulevard have been adorned red, white and blue ribbons, and with posters that contain photos of the Veterans Memorial Chargers football team.

The two teams will battle Friday night at Sams Stadium in the Class 5A Region 4 Playoff Championship Game.

The game sold out in a matter of days and the City of Brownsville has been full of excitement as football fans have been waiting for what is sure to be an exciting game. 

Marquees and billboards around the city are showing their support for their hometown team.

The digital billboard at the Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau is showcasing slides in support of the Chargers. Marquees around BISD campuses also have messages cheering on the team with one at Garden Park reading “Supporting our Chargers Making History in Our City and BISD.”

The Chargers are also getting support from local businesses in Cameron County on social media as well as businesses congratulate them and wish them good luck in their upcoming game.

The Brownsville Independent School District will stream the game online on its YouTube channel.

For those planning to attend the game but are worried about finding parking, worry no more.

Free parking will be available at the Texas Southmost College ITEC Center and the Brownsville Independent School District will provide free shuttle service to and from Sams Stadium.

The ITEC Center is located at 301 Mexico Boulevard.

 The shuttle services will run from 5:15PM to 7:30 PM, at halftime, and 1 hour at the end of the game.
