VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO ASSIST IN 2024 POINT-IN-TIME COUNT TO SURVEY HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS

volunteers needed

To care for and assist the homeless in the Brownsville area, Cameron and Willacy County volunteers are needed to help conduct the annual 2024 Point-In-Time Count (PIT Count) to survey the number of sheltered and unsheltered homeless individuals in the area.

This is a valuable initiative to better understand and address the needs of sheltered and unsheltered homeless individuals in the region.

The PIT Count will take place on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

The PIT Count aims to provide a snapshot of the individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the area over the course of one night.

The comprehensive approach, including checking areas such as cars, parks, streets, sidewalks, transitional housing, and emergency shelters, ensures a thorough understanding of the homelessness landscape.

This initiative serves multiple purposes, such as raising awareness in the community, advocating for local and federal funding, understanding the characteristics and trends of homelessness, and engaging communities in ending homelessness.

For more information and to volunteer contact: [email protected] or call (956) 280-2860. Training will be provided.
