PUBLIC INFORMATION SESSIONS REGARDING ARPA GRANT SCHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY AT MAIN LIBRARY

The City of Brownsville has nearly half a million dollars in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, and it will award it to 46 qualifying non-profit entities and small businesses, $10,000 each that were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

These funds are specifically for those who were operational before the pandemic and have faced adverse impacts due to it.

In 2021, Brownsville received $65 million in ARPA funding, allocating $2.6 million for cultural events and tourism improvements. The city now wants to allocate some of that funding to assist small businesses.

To be eligible, a business must have been within the city limits before March 2019.

It's also important to note that recipients of the first round of funding are not eligible for this round.

The first informational sessions will be held on January 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM in English and 2:00 PM in Spanish at the Main Branch of the Public Library at 2600 Central Boulevard, and the second on February 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM in English and 2:00 PM in Spanish at the Southmost Branch of the Public Library at 4320 Southmost Boulevard.
