The Charro Days Fiesta is a vibrant and culturally rich event, and the 2024 edition is particularly special.

The highlight of the 2024 Charro Days is the official unveiling of the festival's poster, created by the local artist Don Breeden.

The unveiling was held Wednesday, February 24, 2024, at the Brownsville Historic Museum with mariachis and dancers playing and dancing to traditional Charro Days music.

Breeden's contribution to Charro Days is significant, having provided posters for over 25 years. Each of his posters captures a unique aspect of the festival, with this year's featuring a "tired mariachi," symbolizing the dedication and hard work of performers who entertain throughout the festivities.

“It’s the story of the tired mariachi. He was so popular that he worked all through Charro Days and by the time he got through the fourth or fifth night, and the next day he gets home earlier in the morning, plops down, and says ‘I’m through’ and falls asleep,” Breeden said.

This portrayal adds a human element to the celebration, highlighting the efforts that go into making the festival a success.

The Charro Days Fiesta, under the leadership of Henry LeVrier, aims to foster community spirit and celebrate family values. With events like the Baile Del Sol, parades, and a carnival, the festival offers something for everyone, emphasizing its role as a family-friendly event.

“We invite everybody. Please keep in mind Charro Days is a family event. It’s for the families, complete families, todos families. Bring everybody whether it is to an event, or a parade, come and help us celebrate. We will be waiting for you,” LeVrier said.

The festival, running from February 29 through March 10, 2024, promises to be a memorable occasion, inviting people to participate in various activities and to experience the rich cultural traditions of the region. It's a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and enjoy the festivities while appreciating the cultural heritage that Charro Days represents.
