BROWNSVILLE, Texas (March 17, 2017) – The City Manager’s Youth Fund awarded scholarships through the Mr. Amigo Association to two students from Brownsville at the Annual Boards & Commissions Appreciation Luncheon at the Brownsville Event Center on Friday, February 24, 2017.
Saint Joseph Academy student Andres Treviño and Homer Hanna Early College High School Student Lauren A. Guzman were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Andres Treviño will attend The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania and Lauren A. Guzman will attend The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.
Brownsville City Manager Charlie Cabler established the City Manager’s Youth Fund in 2007 to support youth activities and the educational goals of Brownsville students.
“The City Manager’s Youth Fund is honored to help students achieve academic success,” said Brownsville City Manager Charlie Cabler. “The City Manager’s Youth Fund is dedicated to providing wellness and academic assistance to Brownsville’s youth.”
