WHAT:
This year marks 16 years since the terrorist attacks that took place September 11, 2001. In honor and remembrance of our nation’s bravest, the Brownsville Fire Department, in partnership with the Los Fresnos Fire Department, the Port Isabel Volunteer Fire Department, and the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 970, invites the community to attend the 9/11 Memorial Ride, to be held at 8 a.m. on Sunday, September 10, 2017, at Brownsville Fire Department Station 8, 1855 Captain Donald Foust Road in Brownsville.
Registration for the 9/11 Memorial Ride will begin at 6:45 a.m. Participants must present their registration form, signed waiver and $30 registration fee. Participants may also register prior to the event online via http://cob.us/1719. Proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity.
The 9/11 Memorial Ceremony begins at 7:45 a.m. in front of Brownsville Fire Department Station 8, featuring a performance by the Brownsville Firefighters Pipes & Drums. The 42-mile 9/11 Memorial Ride begins at 8 a.m. at Brownsville Fire Department Station 8 with rest stops at the Los Fresnos Rodeo Grounds, 500 E. Ocean Blvd. in Los Fresnos, and at Port Isabel High School, 18001 Highway 100 in Port Isabel. The 9/11 Memorial Ride will conclude at Brownsville Fire Department Station 8 with a barbecue for participants.
