BROWNSVILLE, Texas (September 6, 2017) – At a press conference held Wednesday, September 6, 2017, Brownsville Mayor Tony Martinez, in partnership with Matamoros Mayor Jesús Juan de la Garza Díaz del Guante, announced the Bi-National 10K Run & 5K Run benefiting the TeletonUSA Foundation.
The Bi-National 10K Run will be hosted by the City of Brownsville at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017, beginning at the Texas Southmost College Arts Center, 90 Taylor Avenue in Brownsville, Texas, and ending at the Presidencia Municipal, Calle Sexta entre González y Morelos S/N Zona Centro in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
The Bi-National 5K Run will be hosted by the City of Matamoros at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017, beginning at the Gateway International Bridge in Brownsville, Texas, and ending at the Presidencia Municipal, Calle Sexta entre González y Morelos S/N Zona Centro in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
“The resolve of the people in our communities to overcome all barriers with love and faith is stronger than any wall, past, present or future,” said Brownsville Mayor Tony Martinez. “I invite the residents of Brownsville to register for this run and embody the theme of this event, Unidos y de pie, Standing United.”

The TeletonUSA Foundation is a non-profit organization based in San Antonio, Texas, raising funds to build and support the Children’s Rehabilitation Institute of TeletonUSA (CRIT), which assists children with neurological and musculoskeletal disorders such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injuries, genetic disorders and amputations.
