WHAT:
Join the Housing Authority of the City of Brownsville (HACB) and the City of Brownsville (COB), partners in the Buena Vida Choice Neighborhood Plan, for the 1st Annual Treasure Hunt, to be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at Edelstein Park, 1155 E. Polk Street in Brownsville.
The 1st Annual Treasure Hunt celebrates play with a treasure hunt, snacks, games and Story Time with Special Guest Brownsville City Commissioner At-Large “B” Rose M. Z. Gowen. Designated a Playful City USA in May 2017 for its fifth consecutive year, the City of Brownsville honors PLAYce for Kids Day! and its commitment to ensuring our kids get the balanced and active play they need to thrive.
The Buena Vida Choice Neighborhood Plan, led by the HACB, in partnership with the COB, focuses on improved housing, neighborhood assets, social services, schools, transportation and job opportunities for the Buena Vida Neighborhood.
In 2016, the HACB and the COB, its co-applicant, were awarded the Choice Neighborhood Planning Grant by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development. The Choice Neighborhoods Initiative employs a comprehensive approach to neighborhood transformation, and is organized around three core goals: Housing, People, and Neighborhoods.
