BROWNSVILLE, Texas (April 26, 2018) – The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of Brownsville and the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) to request additional resources at Gateway International Bridge during Semana Santa resulted in reduced wait times for travelers.
The increased staffing and additional lane openings provided by CBP resulted in decreased vehicular and pedestrian traffic wait times by an average of 40 percent.
“The Brownsville City Commission recognizes the importance of international commerce to the economic vitality our region,” said Brownsville City Commissioner District 4, Ben Neece. “We look forward to future opportunities to collaborate with the U.S. Customs & Border Protection for safe and efficient travel opportunities, as Brownsville continues to lead tourism and economic development in the Rio Grande Valley.”
