WHAT:
The City of Brownsville’s Office of Emergency Management invites the community to attend the Hurricane Awareness Fair 2018, on Thursday, May 24, 2018, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Brownsville Public Library System – Main Branch, 2600 Central Blvd. in Brownsville.
The 2018 Hurricane Awareness Fair is a free family event that aims to prepare residents for hurricane season which begins June 1 through November 30. The fair will feature informational presentations regarding hurricane and emergency preparedness; equipment displays; over 100 door prizes, including three power generators to be raffled at 8:30 p.m., and food and beverages for the first 1,500 attendees. Individuals must be present to win door prizes.
Hurricane Awareness Fair 2018 presenters include the Public Works Department; the National Weather Service; Brownsville Public Utilities Board; the American Association of Retired Persons; 2-1-1; Texas Division of Emergency Management; and Caregiver SOS by ® WellMed Charitable Foundation.
“We invite our community to learn how they can prepare for hurricane season and any natural disaster or emergency situation that may arise,” said Office of Emergency Management Director Odee Ann Leal. “The Hurricane Awareness Fair is an excellent opportunity for residents to receive important information in a fun and educational setting.”
