When is the application due date?
Cycle 2 is August 15, 2016. Applications are currently not being accepted. To be added to the notification list on when the next application cycle will open, email your contact information to

What expenses qualify for promotional sponsorships?
Eligible expenses include ad/media buys and/or expenses associated with promoting a specific event or program.
3.
What type of events qualify for promotional sponsorships?
Initiatives, activities and events that promote new or expanded business opportunities and/or tourism and further advances BCIC mission. Activities, events or programs must occur within April 1, 2016, through March 31, 2017, for Cycle 1 and November 1, 2016, through October 31, 2017, for Cycle 2. Dates are subject to change.
4.
What expenses do not qualify for promotional sponsorships?
Ongoing administrative or operational expenses for the organization; entertainment, receptions, food, alcohol, flowers, invitations, etc. do not qualify.
5.
Who can apply?
Organizations must be tax-exempt as designated in Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS or the State of Texas Comptroller's Office or a department of the City of Brownsville.
6.
Can I apply if my initiative, activity or event will be located in Los Fresnos?
No. Promotion and Community Grants applications will only be awarded if they’re within Brownsville city limits.

Can a church, school or service clubs apply?

8.
Can my organization submit multiple applications for promotional funding for different initiatives, activities and events within the same funding cycle?
Yes. Organizations may submit multiple applications for promotional funding. Each application must be for a different initiative, activity and event. However, no more than $5,000 will be awarded to the same organization.
9.
Is there a limit on the amount of funding that can be requested?
Yes. Promotional sponsorship requests cannot exceed $5,000.
10.
How are promotion and community grants selected?
Applications will be reviewed by the BCIC Board and selected based on goals and objectives of the event or program, plans for marketing and outreach, and if organizations that have received previous grants are in a good standing and had submitted all required reporting in a timely manner. Applicants may be required to give a short presentation to the board.
11.
When will I know the Board’s decision on the status of my submitted application?
Applicants will be notified if their application was approved and the total amount awarded by October 2016 for Cycle 2.
12.
When will I receive my funds award?
BCIC will release awarded grant funds following the receipt of the executed copy of the award letter and invoice from your organization for the award amount within 6 weeks prior to the beginning of the event/program.
13.
How should I acknowledge BCIC in my promotional campaign?
BCIC must receive recognition by having its logo displayed on all print and electronic materials as the funding source.
