About this Park

Located across from the world-renowned Gladys Porter Zoo is Brownsville's most intensely developed park.

A handful of civic buildings - the Camille Playhouse, the Ringgold Civic Pavilion, the Children's Museum and the Costumes of the Americas Museum - are built along historic Town Resaca. From the buildings a lighted boardwalk with picnic tables lines the resaca, perfect for fishing and bird watching.

The 25-acre park also contains Sam's Memorial Pool, with a children's spray park; a 2 playgrounds, including one with a Spanish galleon; a fitness trail; and several large and small picnic pavilions.

With all of these features, Dean Porter Park continues to be one of the finest, well kept, and most diverse urban parks in the country.
