What do Planners do?
Planners help shape the city by offering better choices of where and how people work and live. They work with other City department staff, government officials, and citizens to make this a reality. Planners do research and analysis, make policy recommendations, and implement small- and large-scale projects.

Why is Planning Important?
Planning creates the vision for the community by determining how the city will grow and how it will adjust to change. Planning identifies current issues, analyzes trends, and engages the community members in a dialogue about goals, issues, and solutions. Planning can shape the feel and look of the City since it influences the health, safety, and well-being of citizens.

What is the Brownsville Comprehensive Plan?
The Imagine Brownsville Comprehensive Plan, adopted July 21, 2009, was designed to establish our community’s vision objectives for a ten-year planning horizon and to develop an implantable strategy to help reach these targeted objectives. The Imagine Brownsville Comprehensive Plan was presented the American Planning Association’s 2009 Comprehensive Planning Award. The plan can be found here:
